What is the cloud?

The technical answer would probably go something like this "Cloud computing is a technology model enabling universal access to shared pools of configurable resources which can be rapidly provisioned with minimal effort via the internet".

However most of us aren't technical. A real world answer would look something more like this "Cloud is the supply of computing services through the internet on an on-demand basis".
