For Contractors and Business Owners
An Australian Government Security Clearance is more than an administrative requirement — it is a commercial and career enabler.
For contractors, business owners, and employees alike, holding a clearance unlocks access to Defence and government work that is otherwise unavailable, positioning you to participate in some of Australia's most critical, complex, and long‑term programs.
Whether you are an independent contractor seeking higher‑value engagements, a business owner wanting to expand into Defence markets, or an employee looking to future‑proof your career, a security clearance creates opportunity, credibility, and confidence.
Why a Security Clearance Matters
For Contractors
- Access a broader pool of Defence and government contracts
- Become immediately deployable for cleared roles
- Reduce downtime between engagements
- Command stronger day rates in specialist disciplines
- Build a sustainable pipeline of long‑term work
A clearance allows you to be considered for roles before projects commence, rather than scrambling to obtain clearance after an opportunity arises.
For Business Owners
- Qualify your organisation to bid for Defence and government work
- Enable your workforce to operate in secure environments
- Strengthen client confidence and commercial credibility
- Reduce project risk caused by clearance delays
- Scale into Defence programs with confidence
Having cleared personnel is often a prerequisite for panel access, tenders, and subcontracting arrangements within the Defence ecosystem.
For Employees
- Expand career pathways into Defence, intelligence, and national security
- Gain access to stable, long‑term programs of work
- Increase mobility across government agencies and Defence primes
- Enhance professional standing and employability
For many professionals, a clearance is the step that transforms what's possible in their career.

Recommended Clearance Level
We recommend Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) as a minimum.
NV1 is the most commonly requested clearance level across the Australian Government and Defence. It provides access to a wide range of classified environments and roles, making it the strongest baseline investment for individuals and organisations entering or expanding within the Defence sector.
Why Start Now
The Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) currently advises average processing timeframes of approximately 75 business days for NV1 clearances.
Starting early ensures you are opportunity‑ready — positioned to accept work immediately rather than missing out while clearance is pending.
Defence & Government Opportunities Include
Security‑cleared professionals are sought across a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to:
- Cybersecurity & Information Assurance
- Engineering (Systems, Maritime, Aerospace, ICT, Cyber)
- Project & Program Management
- ICT Architecture, Software & Hardware
- Risk, Governance & Assurance
- Strategy, Capability & Change Management
- Intelligence, Data & Analytics
- Science, Technology & R&D
- Communications, Marketing & Commercial Services
And many more across Defence, federal government agencies, and Defence industry partners.
